1. what we call, what is called = 소위, 이른바

Is it what we/you/they call the Space Shuttle?

= Is it what is called the Space Shutte?

= Is it so-called the Space Shutte?

What we call failure is not the falling down but the staying down.

2. [A is to B What C is to D] = A와 B의 관계는 C와 D의 관계와 같다.

Reading is to the mind what food is to the body.

Air is to us what water is to fish.

 

3. what is more = 더구나

Natural gas is a very efficient fuel. And what's more, it's clean.

 

4. what 주어 be 동사 = 주어의 인격, 됨됨이

what 주어 have = 주어의 소유물, 재산

My fater has made me what I am today.

We should not judge a man by what he has.

 

5. What + 명사 = 명사를 수식하는 형용사 역할을 하는 관계형용사로 쓰인다.

She ate what food I had bought.(=all the food that I bought)

My sister spent what money she had earned.(=all the money that she had earned)
