It ~ that 강조 용법

 

일반적인 문장에서 강조하는 부분을 It is/was 와 that 사이에 쓴다.

 

Her family's generosity and care for the poor made a great impact on young Mother Teresa's life.

⇒ It was Her family's generosity and care for the poor that made a great impact on young Mother Teresa's life

 

 

I met Ted at the park this morning.

 

It was I that(who) met Ted at the park this morning.

It was Ted that(whom) I met at the park this morning.

It was at the park that I met Ted this morning.

It was this morning that(when) I met Ted at the park.

 

It is [when we share our findings with people with other areas of expertise or perspectives, or seek feedback about our concept from someone in a different field, or try out our idea with potential users,] that suddenly the real potential starts to emerge. (수특 3강, 1번)

-무려 [when we share our findings with people with other areas of expertise or perspectives, or seek feedback about our concept from someone in a different field, or try out our idea with potential users] 절이 강조되어 있어서 It is - that - 강조 용법의 뼈대를 놓치기 쉽다.

 전치사구 at that point 가 강조되고 있다.

 

※ 본동사의 시제에 따라 is/was ※ 해석 : that 이하 한 것은 바로 ~ 였다.

 

 

 

※ 동사를 제외한 주어, 목적어, 부사 강조 (동사강조: do, does, did)

동사, 보어와 간접 목적어를 제외하고 모든 문장 성눔을 강조 할 수 있다. 

 

 

※ that 대신 : who(사람), when(시간), where(장소) 를 쓸 수 있다.

It ~ that ~ 강조 용법의 that은 관계사 출신이다. (접속사 that x)

따라서 강조하는 명사가 선행사 역할을 하기 때문에 사람이면 who, 사물이면 which로 바꿀 수 있다. 

하지만 It ~ that ~ 강조 용법의 that은 관계사에서 독립해서 새로운 용법으로 진화했기 때문에 특수 용법으로 분류된다.

관계사 성질은 흔적만 남아있다고 생각하면 된다.

※ 의문사 강조용법 (What was it that ~강조용법)

 

강조할 내용을 It is(was) ~ that 사이에 의문사(who, what, which)가 오는 경우

 

It is who that ~/ It was what that ~

-> Who is it that ~/ What was it that ~의 어순이 된다.

(의문사는 앞으로 나오는 성질이 있고, 이때에는 의문문 순서(의주동)를 유지한다.)

 

ex) Who caught you?

-> It was who that caught you.(x)

->Who it was that caught you.(x)

->Who was it that caught you? (o)

대체 누가 결국 당신을 잡았나요?
